And because you think me a **** because of my opinion must make you one too. No doubt you have a reason why not. :)
It is not my opinion that makes you the ****, it is your juvenile attitude and behaviour, of resorting to assumptions and name-calling, towards someone who has a different opinion to you.
You moan that someone can be easily offended, yet you and gerry appear to be easily offended and outraged because Primark withdrew an item from sale. You, and gerry, are probably totally unaffected by the withdrawal of that item. You readily resort to a tirade of abusive comments against the original complainant.

Tirade of abuse. I called him ****. You called me a ****. Is that a tirade of abuse. ****. :p

I see a simple explanation for those hard-of-thinking, like mitch is called for.
The T shirt was based on a TV series. If you have never seen this TV programme, and therefore was totally unaware of that relevance, you could easily assume that the shirt was provocatively racist.
Perhaps Primark did not realise the racist connotations until it was pointed out to them. When they were alerted, they agreed and withdrew it from sale.
You and gerry had apoplexy because someone thought a shirt design was provocatively racist. How dare they!

I'm pretty sure all UK-raised people over 30 will have heard the original words of eeny, meeny.

There will be a small proportion who think its OK to say "******" or "****" or "***." Some of them go to football games and shout such words.

Gerry originally claimed that he wanted to buy one of these T-shirts, but seems to have backed down now.

The quote on the T shirt, together with the picture of a bloody, baseball bat with barbed wire wrapped round it, was surely a massive clue as to the origins of the T shirt. Obviously the person who complained that it was racist, hasn't watched the new series of the Walking Dead, and has taken the words and picture out of the context in which it was meant ?

Do you know alternative words to eeny, meeny, minie, mo?

Do tell us.

Perhaps you don't realise that there are people in the world who don't share your taste in American fantasy TV shows. Quite a lot of people.

Equally, there are people in the world who don't immediately see "racism" in every t shirt they look at, John. There are also a hell of a lot of people who don't happen to feel "offended" on behalf of others. Quite a lot of people..

BTW, the version I learnt in school was Eeny meeny miney mo, Catch a tiger by it's toe.. Obviously, you went to a different school.

Apparently there are many earlier and later forms of the rhyme - which would appear to have been corrupted by, among others, Kipling. I don't know if he was racist.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eeny,_meeny,_miny,_moe
The rhyme itself would seem not to be.

I note no one has responded to my question whether "boy" on a T-shirt would be racist.
Do you see the relevance? Probably not.

Perhaps you don't realise that there are people in the world who don't share your taste in American fantasy TV shows. Quite a lot of people.
Perhaps there are, so what?

Because Judy seems to think he has thought of a good excuse.

Obviously the person who complained that it was racist, hasn't watched the new series of the Walking Dead, and has taken the words and picture out of the context in which it was meant ?

Anyone not familiar with the TV shown would not be aware of the context, as intended.

Racist attacks with baseball bats are not limited to US, there have been several in UK recently.
Along with the historical context of the rhyme, it is easily construed as racist.

... and that's all you are going to consider, is it?

I've long thought the National Anthem should be changed simply because it is a dirge.

Perhaps I could enlist the help of homosexuals who could claim it is offensive to them.

Obviously the person who complained that it was racist, hasn't watched the new series of the Walking Dead, and has taken the words and picture out of the context in which it was meant ?
As John points out, if you have not seen the TV series, you would be completely unaware of the intended context.
So it is not a case of taking it "out of context". It is a case of being totally unaware of the intended context.
There can be only one other context!

Nobody knows what the "intended context" is.

It will appeal to some people with a love of violence, and to other people with a love of racism.

Eye of the beholder.
