I want a new CU installing but should I ask for a metal one if possible? Are there any advantages or disadvantages? Do they need to be installed any different to plastic ones? Is Wylex OK?

Thanks :)

What earthing arrangement do you have?

You can not fit a metal clad CU if you have a TT suply (unless the 100mA type S RCD is in a seperate insulated enclosure)

For most domestic situations an insulated CU is fine.

It's a TT with an isolator in a separate plastic enclosure but is to be replaced with a time delay S type 100A 100mA RCD. Is it worth paying the extra for a metal one?

Wylex are fine.

would fit a plastic one to be honest in domestic installs, unless its likelly to take any abuse. plastic are more than adequate.

Thanks, I'll ask for a plastic one then.
You shouldn't need to - they dont come in wood any more, and most sparks fit plastic by default anyway
