Hi,

I need to move the oven switch 6" further away from the incloming feed (new bigger oven), the exisitng cable is not long enough!

What are my options? The work I am doing will be certified and replacing the whole cable is NOT an option??

The oven is a dual fuel model, max rating at 7.4kW, so 30A and 4mm is OK then?

I would like to use some ceramic 30 amp choc block in a recessed back box, ceiling height and run the new cable down to the oven switch.

What do the regs say?? Replacing the whole cable would require destruction of a £3k floor so that aint happening!

Many Thanks,

Matt.

What you suggest is ok - as long as cables runin safe zones, which are directly vertically and horizontally from any outlet or acessory.

7.4kW = 32.17A @ 230V.

You can apply diversity, but I'm more worried about the installation method, circuit length & volt drop.

How long is the circuit, and through what types of material does the cable pass along its route?

inThe cable run is largely in the ceiling cavity (loft insulated) then down the plasterred wall. Total length = 6m approx. 7.4kW is all the electrics in the oven on and flat out. Its a dual fuel double oven, so in reality one oven will be used - and who cooks on full power?!?

Given the choice I would install 6mm cable, but a new cable isnt an option!

Thanks,

Matt.
