im still waiting to hear from ebee as to what he considers notifiable

Notifiable works is in the ODPM (and Bans) list.
I suggest you read them,
It`s not just special locations,
new circuits for example for a start.
Read it and then comment by all means.
My own personal beef is people can add, modify, replace, sockets, etc and not notify and surely this is a very common flaw.

i think they should have said no electrical work at all. we know that many would still do it , but that happens with everything.( non corgi plumbers who do gas etc)

The only people likely to get wound up by that are those that aren't interested in the facts, either because they make them uncomfortable, or because they have a vested interest in denying them, or because they've denied them for so long that to admit them now would make them look stupid.
