I bought some coping stones to lay over a low 'wall' in the garden. Looking for advice on how to fit them.
In the store I bought them in they sold me a big bag of adhesive (only comes in one size) and some grout. They convinced me the adhesive was a lot easier to use than mixing up mortar. I had assumed it would have been like a tub of PVA that I would just 'paint' on to the wall and stones, not a like a bag of cement.
I asked them about fitting them and all I was told was to prime the stones first. So I just need to figure out how to install them. Unfortunately the bags are in German.
I do have some primer (Evo-Stik Primer 918) that I used to prime a concrete floor before. Would this be suitable for priming the stones?
I presume I should apply the adhesive just like mortar? I'm wondering when to apply the grout for between the stones. Should I lay the stones first and let the adhesive dry and then apply the grout? Should I get some spacers to put between the stones. Or just roughly leave a few mm between them? I don't have any spacers and would rather not buy a bag of them if I don't need them.
