Rape gangs. Why does the Home Office minister not want a national public enquiry?

Lucky Kier. ;)
Why?

The Jay Report (and other reports and police operations since) didn't leave much behind. The same people would be interviewed and asked the same questions. Their recollection of events is unlikely to be more clear. The same people will be in prison or will have served their sentence. It will cost millions and many years to turn up the same conclusions and recommendations. A lot of material from the old report would be copied into the new report.

Do you think Sarah Champion has read them? If so, why do you think she is asking for another national enquiry?
Perhaps, after lot of focus was put on Asian grooming gangs (rightly so) in the wake of the Rotherham, Rochdale scandals etc, it may have come at a price...? Since these enquiries into CSA and CSE have shown that 89% of all offences are committed by white British males, maybe she wants the new inquiry to re-focus efforts where abuse is most prevalent?

Dunno. Why do you think she wants another inquiry? Constituency appeasing?

if you listen to her, mainly because nothing has been done about the inquiry held, but not acted upon.

Want to tell us who failed to act ?

Sir Keir has done his bit...
  • Changed the prosecution approach to "challenge myths and stereotypes" that had stopped victims from being heard
  • Left office when the CPS had the highest number of child sex abuse prosecutions on record
  • Reopened cases that had been closed
  • Brought the first prosecution of an Asian grooming gang
Want to tell us who failed to act ?
You won't get an answer off Mottie.

The governments from 2022 to 2024, who failed to enact any of the recommendations of the report, were led by Johnson, Truss and Sunak.

The government that brought a Bill to Parliament to begin enacting them (though Badenough unsuccessfully put forward a wrecking amendment to stall it) was led by Starmer

I'd wager a fiver that even Mottie knows that.

Yes, for home schooling. That's what i'm referring to.
This bit ?
  • the removal of the automatic right for parents to educate children at home if their child is subject to a child protection investigation or under a child protection plan. Schools will need to check with the local authority where a parent asks to remove a child from school to home educate, to establish whether the local authority’s consent should be obtained.

A lot of abusive parents remove their abused children from school to 'home school' them to hide signs of abuse. There should be strict checks on parents that home school. I’m pretty sure I read that was how that Sara Shariff's injuries went unnoticed for some time.
