Is this watch fitted with battery that takes a charge when watch is worn? The reason I ask is when watch was new, charge indicator swept 30 seconds to indicate full charge, now it only sweeps 5 seconds.

Sounds like you need to do more exercise   Seriously though try wobbling your wrist a bit( no risque comments please) same as you had to do with the old self winders.

Yep.

IIRC, when fully charged (30 sec sweep) it will keep running for 6 months without any more movement.

When I bought mine it swept about 10secs, and after a few wears was fully charged.

How old is yours?

Mrs Megawatt wears mine on her tongue for 30 seconds and the charge lasts me a lifetime

Its actually got a capacitor to store the charge and not a battery.

Its also surprising that the capacitor does not last a lifetime, and can require replacing just like a rechargeable battery does after a while.

AFAIK, the older models capacitor had a service life of about 5 years, but the newer ones claim 10 years.

On that basis the concept is just a gimmick.

ive got one.

its only sweeping 5 seconds now because the capacitor cant hold the charge long enough. mine is holding around 15 seconds, i doubt it will be long before it gets to the stage yours is at.

ive not bothered to see if it can be replaced yet.

ummm... so how does the cost compare with another quartz watch where the battery lasts 5 years even with no wrist movement?

Thanks for the reply guys. Guess I will get the watch repaired.
