Should coppers carry guns?

Including shooting kids?

Depends how you define kids. Certainly I remember a bunch of youngsters in a car who didn't stop when the police tried to pull them over. Cop chased them down and opened fire on them when they were stopped at a traffic light. Was in Tempe AZ I think, not all survived. All kids of good character, the driver failed to stop, the passengers got killed. Could have had a baby in the car, the cop didn't know.

Cop got off as he said that they failed to stop, i.e. resisting arrest i.e. felony crime i.e. lethal force to apprehend them justified. MOre like a case of 'contempt of cop' and he started to see red.

If cops are routinely armed that's what happens. Could be your kid.

I've been to many countries that have armed police and to be honest it's quite scary and I didn't want to be there as I felt uncomfortable, are any of you confident that some of the police are not gun trigger happy crazy? Only certain people such as SAS should carry guns

Now imagine you're a policeman or policewomen carrying a gun, how does that feel to you, be honest also knowing do I shoot or maybe not etc?

I have 3 friends in the police force and they are against it.

Now I broken into your home with no gun but you have and I'm saying shoot me because I going to carry on, what would you do, shoot me?

If you proceeded anywhere near where my wife or two young kids were i would shoot you on the spot.

Twice.

Once for breaking into my property, potentially threatening the welfare of my family.
And once for the cheek of saying 'You're going to carry on'. :D

Shoot me to hurt or kill me?

So if your family was threatening their welfare outside of your home, you're quite happy to murder them?

So you're quite happy for every family in the UK in control of a gun?
No.

But you threaten my family in my home and you have not been invited in then i have every right to use reasonable force. If i thought the life of my children were in danger from an intruder then shooting them would be merciful.

Neither. You shoot to stop. Usually, that does result in death, or at the very least dismemberment.

When Tasers were introduced it was specifically stated that they would only be used in place of a firearm...

Of course they are now often used outside that definition because plod finds it easier to taser first and answer questions later...

Give them all guns, and it's only a short step to routinely hearing "stop or I shoot"...for whatever reason!

I don't get it. I thought your scenario was about someone breaking into my house.???? :?

Murder who??? :?

He's the narrow minded sort who doesn't quite grasp self defence. Yknow, the sort who crawls into a corner and gets the **** kicked out of him when someone decides to burgle him.

If you shoot me with a gun in your house as from your post you're happy to do it twice then it's murder.
