Now I broken into your home with no gun but you have and I'm saying shoot me because I going to carry on, what would you do, shoot me?

Twice.

Once for breaking into my property, potentially threatening the welfare of my family.
And once for the cheek of saying 'You're going to carry on'. :D
Shoot me to hurt or kill me?

Neither. You shoot to stop. Usually, that does result in death, or at the very least dismemberment.
This is where it get messy, I'm in house and did not threatening anybody therefore leave straight away, so how many people would shoot me in the back in the heat of the moment because you're angry?

With or without my possessions in your sack, I'd shoot you.

You are clutching at straws with your argument.

The scenario you are playing out can happen without or without guns. People have defended themselves and killed intruders without firearms. People have also took the law into their own hands and dealt out further punishment after the intruders have fled, again without guns.

Having intruders in your house is a highly charged and emotive occurrence. Bad things will happen with or without guns. The only difference being is that with a gun the homeowner wrests some of the advantage back.

What I'm trying to say is once the police are armed with guns then joe public will do the same as they don't always trust the police action therefore could get carried away with their gun whenever they feel like it and this is when it can get messy. Do we really want live in a uncivilised country? Guns for the right reason but in the wrong hands is dangerous

So you are fine with burglars, thieves, drug pushers and gangsters to have an arsenal of weaponry, but the poor fist bobby on the scene should be armed with what - a polite smile?

I'm listening but where do you stop, every house owners having guns? The police don't need guns but only for the special armed police units that deal with the situation.

Let the cops and robbers shoot it out.

I don't think all homeowners should have a gun, no.

However, i do feel all warm and tingly when i read or hear that an intruder has got what he deserves.

Dont forget Health & Safety.
If a cop cant go into a 3 foot pool to rescue a child- I'm sure as hell- it will be a lot harder to pull a trigger .

Sadly  Needn't be, if it's down to me, I would build more and more prisons until the crime solved by longer sentences etc

God help us.
If you knew the punishment would be 20 yrs in prison just for house breaking and murder for life until you die etc, would you do it? harsh I know but it's sending out the message?

Agree totally.
Also- if they have a shell suit on and a black curly wig- double the sentence.
Too easy to rob a persons house and scar a innocent victim for LIFE.

Dont park on Yellow lines or go a few miles per hour in a 30 speed limit though.
Jail the robbers for a very very long time .
Also- as a footnote- I have 'lived' in USA (East coast- down South) and know how residents there deal with such things.
If a person breaks into your home- and you disturb them- and they run away, try to shoot them while they are in your home. If they manage to escape the house and run up the driveway- shoot them--then drag them back into your home and let them bleed there .
Of course- you have to say you shot them in your home . No problem - You would be in the clear.
