as uk dont own jag/land rover cars, should we give them tax £s to keep them afloat, would we save in the long run on dole and other benifits, as the workers would be pay tax ,and meeting there household bills, or is it TATA to them

i dont see why they should. I know the loss of the jobs for workers will be awful, but if thye dont fail, someone else will. do we keep bailing them out. As said above why not bail out woolies, it would be cheaper and save more jobs.

Part of the facts of life of a recession, is that it will expose companies that are flawed business and possibly end up with their demise. That leaves a hole in the market when it turns up for other companies to expand into. As one of the heads of sainsburys said on question time a few weeks ago, the expanding companies will offer more employmnet at a faster rate than an ailing company will, and give more secure jobs in the long run.

Survival of the fittest.

If they are not making any money and we lend/give them some more does that mean that they will automatically make a profit.

If they are just experiencing a cash flow problem then the gov should look at a financing plan to retain the jobs at risk. If however they are losing money hand over fist because of poor management, bad products etc then no.

I thought land rover was doing OK

Perhaps we should buy back land rover and nationalise it.

why not their doing it with nissan

it was meant as sarcasm

as for land rover

everybody thought GM and chrysler where doing ok

and they reckon to be bust by the end of the month

chrysler in particular has had bad financials for years, thats why daimler benz broke their ties, and most majar car makers have been on thin ice for a while.

jag is worth saving, if for nothing else cos they manufacture and export, two things lacking in our country today.

why should we bale out a foreign company? they take take take and demand not to be restricted by governments making them do things but when they are feelng the pinch we are expected to pay for their bad decisions pay structures and conditions for their emplyees, if they cannot run a successful business they fail, simple, we work in construction and nobody helps us, it doesn't matter to a guy who is skint that there are several hundred in the same boat he is still skint and nobody bales us out.

Not sure they have any v12 lumps with twin carbs on the shelf Kev. What's that engine in ? An E -type or something ?
