Lol! Thanks guys - I must say I've tried gluing boards in the past and made a right pigs ear of it. I'm doing this job soon and will use your method.
 
masona, thats why the tool that cuts them is called a plug cutter!!!!! ;)

you live and learn, however we used to call them pellets as well (i suppose plugs can get mixed up with rawlplugs etc :!:

Wasn't a party wall was a wall between two rooms in the same house and anyway there are plenty of houses in areas such as the mining towns of S. Wales where the party wall is only 4".
 
Look on the bright side, it will save on nails. One nail will hold the skirting on both sides of the wall.:cool:
