The MET office's projected route for a nasty Atlantic depression more or less follows this 'jet stream' location forecast...

Whats happened ?

partly it's the time of year for gales

partly weather conditions are such that we've going to get a shortish bad one

the jetstream always comes in from the West and drops out on or near Britain

don't know if there's any more to it.

luckily it is expected in the middle of the night so there will be few caualties this time (people driving or walking in street hit by falling trees or flying tiles etc)

nor me glad you enjoyed the programs, they did bend the truth a bit but it drummed up plenty of business for local tourism and I've done well out of it I'm off to fill sand bags !

Have visited Cornwall & Scillys regularly since 1974.

On the subject of the storm, I'm a bit worried about our roof & chimneys....

OH MY GOD ...... storms in winter and rain in summer.

I've never known anything like it - its the end of the world I tell you.

Just how do these weather events get bigged up and made such a big deal? What happened to the last 'severe' high tide warning in Norfolk? A man walking his dog on the beach got some spray in is eyes, thats what.

The version I read was: "A dogger on the beach got sprayed in the eye"

Nothing to do with the weather apparently.

my poly tunnel got completely clobbered by it, only just got the thing put up and secured as well. The covers still on it, but the frames just disintergrated!
