The Brexit bonus?

Are you sure that's not just "Project Fear?"

Another "Brexit bonus" is that British manufacturers of low-cost unbranded pharmaceuticals are finding it uneconomic to send them to NI, so they are likely to give up.

Remember when Buffoon Johnson claimed there would be no paperwork or controls of stuff going from GB to NI?

Complete nonsense.

"Under the Northern Ireland protocol, part of the 2019 Brexit treaty designed to avoid a hard border on the island of Ireland, medicines made in Great Britain will have to be licensed separately for use in the region as well as undergoing separate safety inspections and other checks before they can be released for patients.

Before the UK left the EU and European regulatory system, a medicine could be supplied to many European countries through the submission of just one regulatory dossier and a single set of standards and regulations."

how lucky that the Brexers told us that the Fishing conundrum was the important problem to (fail to) solve, and disregarded everything else.

"Mark Samuels, chief executive of the British Generic Manufacturers Association, a body which represents UK-based drugs companies, said unless a solution was found immediately, some manufacturers were considering withdrawing up to 90 per cent of the medicines they currently supplied.

Patients’ ability to access many current medicines would be in “serious jeopardy” he said, pointing out that generic drugs make up four out of every five medicines prescribed in the NHS.

Samuels said one of just two suppliers of potassium chloride — a vital ingredient in intravenous drips — had already pulled all eight of its products. “The resilience of that supply chain has now halved,” he added.

Patients in Northern Ireland also face losing access to cutting edge drugs. Samuels disclosed that a number of the association’s member companies had already taken “the difficult decision not to launch new products” in the region, including treatments for epilepsy, diabetes and cancer."

The Single Market is the world's finest Trade Treaty, and Brexers threw it away.

"Take Back Control" my asre.
Boris's N.I. protocol is being challenged in the courts, if it is found to be illegal, what happens then.

like when he lied to the country, to Parliament and the Queen to close down Parliament?

and the Supreme Court found against him?

nothing. his supporters don't mind.

They like a lying, dishonest, incompetent crook who tell jokes.

BTW he has announced he is going to change the law to prevent the courts having any power over his political misdeeds.

"The Queen’s Speech included a commitment to “restore the balance of power between the executive, legislature and the courts”. This is a reference to the proposed Judicial Review Bill – which incidentally is all about the role of the courts, and has nothing to say about the balance of power between the executive and the legislature, which might be thought worthy of attention given the extent to which parliament has been side-lined over both Covid and the Brexit deal."

"The job of the courts is to interpret and apply the law, including the law as contained in primary legislation enacted by parliament, and secondary legislation made by ministers. How does it make sense for the law (or the rule of law) to be “balanced” against something else?"

"This rang alarm bells: it tended to confirm that the government wanted to find ways of keeping the courts out of certain areas of policy making or decision making altogether, which could only make it easier for the government to act illegally in those areas."

I've had a mare these past 2 weeks trying to get spares for a job from Europe, took me a week to get some tools over, in the end I had to pay a man in a van 2.5k to drive from Spain and drop them off.

The funny thing was they sailed through UK customs, it turned out EU customs were being somewhat difficult not letting the tools out the country. All items sent have to be checked at the borders before they leave the EU to the UK, meaning everything is getting checked twice.

As we were hiring the tools the Spanish couldn't understand that we were to be returning them within a set amount of time, the man in the van went through France and when he got to Calais, typical french couldn't be bothered to check paperwork and just waved him straight through. Then flew through UK customs..

It's been tough and has now made us re-think projects when spares are coming from Europe due to the additional time required, meaning we have had to extend lead times and alter customers expectations.

We are not checking much as we don't have the manpower and just assume the French are doing their job properly.

And more people voted for him. :D Cons +2

The French officials are not responsible for protecting the interests of a third country.

Let's face it...

Despite all their claims as to a wonderful future for the UK outside of the EU...

Brexiteers are completely bonkers!

Look on the bright side, our government put their top priority into sorting out the Fishing agreement, neglecting financial services, manufacturing and agriculture, which generate billions more revenue and employ millions more people.

Johnson and his buddies ensured the media were filled with fuss and nonsense about how great it was to "take back control."

So at least Fishing will be OK.

Won't it?

fishing is more than just hauling fish out of the sea

it’s also protection of fishing grounds / the environment
Some thing our garlic munching friends don’t seem to under stand in particular when they are causing environmental havoc and destruction in some one else’s waters
