In America the police rule by force.

As the ongoing George Floyd trial is showing.

Badly trained police in land of guns.

In America the police rule by force.
As they do in the UK...

Policing 'by consent' went out of the window years ago!
The hint is when the emphasis went from 'police service' to 'police force'...

Plenty of cases of police 'killings' of unarmed people in the UK (whilst 'on duty') with not one police officer convicted...

The only difference thankfully is that our lot don't routinely have guns so the number of 'killings' is much lower...

But I wonder how long that will last, what with the continual 'drip drip' of draconian laws being introduced?

As they should everywhere unless you want a committee of toothless pussies protecting you and your family....
Mottie, that's a silly comment, even by your standards.
Quite obviously the first line, policy of policing should be by consent.
Yes, if and when necessary, it needs to be supported by force, but only as and when necessary.

And who gets to decide that? Some on here look on riots, public disorder and looting as a legitimate form of protest.

You are being silly again.
I very much doubt anyone on here considers rioting or looting as a legitimate form of protest.

I suggest you review your comments before posting them, with a more critical view than your current view.

This video by his widower is heartbreaking.

5 years after the murder of Daniel Shaver, by officer Philip Brailsford of Mesa PD, his wife is still seeking justice

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-42277309
never heard of this case, guess with him being a white guy it wasn't big news, the US police shoot and kill a lot more whites than any other ethnicity but seldom do we here of them. Doubt the officers involved with the death of floyd will walk away, they have been found guilty before the trial.

It would be interesting to see what led up to the shooting of Shaver for the police to act in such an extreme way.

You may or may not have notice that times have changed in the last hundred years or so.

In UK, plod talks... Then, if needed, lays hands on... then if needed, uses a baton... then if needed, uses a tazer... then if none of this suffices, and lives are at risk or already lost, uses a firearm.

Just like America. Oh, wait...

True, but that’s their problem, not ours. There’s much worse goes on in other countries but I can’t seem to find that being posted anywhere in here so why is the OP not going on about policing in North Korea, China, Hong Kong, Russia, some Eastern European states, quite a few countries in Africa, ditto South America. Don’t they count then?

Trust in the police
1.20 The British policing system relies on policing by consent and is underpinned by the Peelian Principles set
out in the 1829 Metropolitan Police Act.34 The Peelian Principles were, for Sir Robert Peel35, about: “getting
out into the community dealing with the daily issues that concern people, and earning their respect and
co-operation in preventing crime.”36 The system places trust and the public at the centre of police
accountability. HMIC comments that: “‘public consent and approval of the police and their actions is
essential to the efficiency and effectiveness of the police”37.

Sure lets judge things by your knowledge and bigotry. Why not?

Why don't you learn a bit about the facts before you spout your nonsense.

The facts of Daniel Shaver killing are available so we don't need your pseduo speculation to defend the police. Disgusting, but its par the course for RWR these days.
