You have to ask yourself what an electrician is. I would say that it's someone who can:
. Work skillfully, independently, pragmatically, and safely;
. Keep abreast of changes in legislation and working practices;
. Keep a cool head, and cope with the unexpected;
. Keep aware of new and improved products and techniques;
. If self-employed, create, develop and run a business that makes a sustainable profit;
. Develop sufficient time-management skills to be calm and reliable at all times;
. Build a rapport with suppliers and continuously manage stock;
. And, for those who work with the general public, avoid insanity;
.... to name but many.
How long does is take for most of those to become second-nature, and for a business to become firmly established? It's finger in the air stuff, and everyone is different, but certainly it's a number of years.
