a person living in a small town of about 30 families or less in the mid 1800s
you don't have their name just their birth date .
there's no church or town hall, what would you do to put a name to that person?

If it's in Wales go with Evans ... You'll have an evens chance of being right

Try Census records for that town? That's if any were kept at that time. Are we talking Canada or UK? Census records in England and Wales started in 1801, and in Scotland, 1855.

Roughcaster.

You could look up the 1901 UK census for that village online.

One payment will show you a pageful of names, occupations, ages and the addresses they live at. You can download and save the page as a pdf

If it is a small place there may not be many pages to look at.

I have just looked at a sample page, it shows 22 names, plus 7 blank lines (between households) and three blank lines (where they have put the next household on the next page). the page heading shows the County, Civil Parish and Ecclesiastical parish, county borough, urban district, rural district, parliamentary borough, Town/Village/Hamlet as appropriate.

But you have not made clear what it is you are trying to do, and why.

try that haystack over there ;)

not much to go on....if that's all the info you have....are you wanting a first name? or last name?....do you know the approximate age?....the gender?...were they an infant? or is this a gravestone?...

you could try subscribing to an ancestry website...they can help....but there's quite a lot of research involved.....in which case...

invent one
