Vive La France!

I am reminded of the Irish nuns who discarded the worthless corpses of neglected babies into a sewage tank or unmarked mass graves.

So much for the sanctity of the child.

It only counted before birth.

The local people resisted calls for a memorial or garden of remembrance because they preferred the deaths to be forgotten

"Corless was said to have found 797 death records, with only one pointing towards a child who had been buried alongside their relatives in a Catholic cemetery.

The researcher therefore reportedly suspected that the other youngsters who had died had likely been placed in ‘unmarked graves on the orphanage grounds, including in a disused septic tank’, the publication stated.

In Corless’ research, she found that nearly 80% of the babies who died and were found in the mass grave were younger than one, while the most common causes of death were flu, measles, pneumonia, tuberculosis and whooping cough."

You are the one wanting to reduce the time limit from 24 weeks to 14 weeks.

Or have you changed your mind ?
A woman should be free to chose to abort if she wishes, within the term time agreed. She can access councilors or medics if she needs to.
What she does not need are barmy religious right wing politicians interfering with her freedom to chose.

It's fairly obvious that you don't know what you are arguing about.

why do you want us to copy the French?

Abortion and all its complications are entirely covered by the NHS.
A woman can self refer for an abortion under 24 weeks and she can self administer the drugs in the first 10 weeks.

In France you only have 14 weeks to decide and the cost of any complications caused are subject to your health insurance which may or may not cover them.

There is nothing rightwing or nonsense about accepting that a foetus is an unborn child and even an embryo is a potential human.
These are accepted facts by all but the clueless. People who "champion" women's rights but want to adopt an inferior regime.

It's not because you are left wing or right wing... it's simply you don't get it.

Quit sniffing deck varnish and learn to read, Pugwash.

Deck varnish.

Or you could accept you got all upset without understanding that we already have everything you wanted and better.

You do finally understand that, right?

You do talk ill informed drivel.

Abortion in France is free the same as the UK.

Women can get late term (aprés 14 weeks) abortions in France, the same as the UK.

The only difference is right wing religious fruitcakes won't be getting their grubby opinions in the way of a woman's right to an abortion in France, anytime soon.

Vive La France!

Not without prior approval (from two doctors unless its an emergency) otherwise she could be prosecuted.

More flexible my arse.

FFS You really are a clueless idiot, read the NHS guidance - search for "The decision to have an abortion is yours alone.". What do you think that means?

France explicitly guarantees the right to abortion in its constitution

A very wise decision as it prevents an undemocratic power grab as happened in America

The UK granted the right for a woman to choose to have an abortion in 1991. It is in our statute which means "an undemocratic power grab" cannot change it.

How is having the right to choose to abort up to 24 weeks and have the full cost including any complications covered free of charge not better than only having the right to choose up to 14 weeks and having to rely on health insurance which you may or may not have, to cover any complications?

Tell me again - what do you two want to change. Do you want to stop religious extremists from banning abortion? Maybe take a look at which side of the political fence has more religious nutters.

For the clueless forum idiot,

Here are the key restrictions regarding who can have an abortion in the United Kingdom:
  1. Age Restrictions:
    • Under 16: If a person is under 16 years old, they can still access abortion services without parental consent. Healthcare professionals prioritize the young person’s best interests and confidentiality.
    • 16 and 17: Individuals aged 16 and 17 can consent to their own medical treatment, including abortion, without parental involvement.
  2. Medical Assessment:
    • Before an abortion, a medical assessment is conducted to determine the stage of pregnancy and the most suitable method.
    • The assessment ensures that the person’s health and well-being are considered.
  3. Time Limits:
    • Abortions can legally be carried out within the first 24 weeks of pregnancy.
    • Medical abortions (using medication) can be conducted up to 10 weeks into pregnancy.
    • Surgical abortions can be performed up to 23 weeks and six days into a pregnancy.
  4. Grounds for Abortion:
    • Abortion can take place if continuing the pregnancy would risk the person’s physical or mental health.
    • Grounds also include risks to the health of existing children or if there is a substantial risk of severe physical or mental abnormalities in the unborn child.
  5. Two Doctors’ Approval:
    • For legal abortions, two doctors must agree that the criteria for abortion are met.
    • One doctor can approve in cases of emergency.
  6. Conscientious Objection:
    • Healthcare professionals have the right to conscientiously object to participating in abortions.
    • However, they must refer the person to another healthcare provider who can assist.

There is nothing rightwing or nonsense about accepting that a foetus is an unborn child
It is not an unborn child

So it is right wing nonsense.

These are accepted facts by all but the clueless

It’s not a fact, it’s simply incorrect

It's not because you are left wing or right wing... it's simply you don't get it.
The right, such as republicans in America don’t care about abortion or life, they deliberately use the pro life cause as a method of divide and conquer.

“Let’s get the public angry about something, so they don’t notice while we carry on making the rich richer and the poor poorer”

Who is it on DIYnot busy spouting these emotive false arguments about abortion: the brainwashed right.
