Vive La France!

What could be simpler than self referral for a free abortion provided you are not more than 24 weeks gone? If you agree I have good news.

In 1991 the abortion act was amended to allow woman to elect to have an abortion. The NHS has been carrying out free abortions based on self referral for many years.

Since it’s neither a trivial thing to do and can involve pain and bleeding, the law requires someone to have an assessment and the procedure explained.

Like any serious medical procedure it’s important that people understand the risks.

Glad were on the same page as the French, in many respects. Free abortions etc.

I'd still like to see the French version. Even a reduction in the term limit. If it's only to make life difficult for the RWR gammon politicians. Since the backward religious USA - RWR nutters have done their bidding, it's definitely made a few stand up and listen. Give women all the rights they deserve, I say.

In france you pre-pay a portion of the fees in advance of treatment. Abortion is exempt from pre-payment.

However, if the procedure is more complex and additional fees charged these are billed and have to be claimed back from your insurance.

In the U.K. it’s free. Seems simpler in the U.K. don’t you think as people may not have the money to pay and claim.

Now let’s look at the statutory right. We’ve had that since 1991. It’s no easier or harder to amend than it is france even after the change.

So to recap
- easier to get and more time to have it in the U.K. since 90% abort in 10 weeks. Do you really see a need to tighten the U.K. law?

You have to pay for health insurance in france unless you are poor then it can be provided for free.

If you are poor how do you pay for something and then try to claim it back from your insurance?

The insurance doesn’t automatically cover treatment of illness caused by abortion

Are you starting to realise that we have a better set up in the U.K.

More time to choose, no possibility of a bill.

You claim to champion women’s right to choose but you want a system where they have less time to choose and may have to pay for the service.

Again.. what is it about the situation in france that you’d like implemented in the U.K?

It is free in the U.K., is mostly free in france. (1)
You can choose to have one in france up to 14 weeks (law changed from 12 weeks in 2022). U.K. has a 24 week limit that we’ve had since 1991.

You seem to be drinking p*** and bile without any understanding of why.

(1) In the event of a fee being exceeded, your health complementary may possibly cover all or part of the costs not reimbursed by the sickness insurance if the contract subscribed so provides.
