I recently ordered teo 240/12v dc power supplies as part of a regulated twin rail supply from a reputable UK-based supplier. They were listed as UK pattern wall psu’s. What turned up had two flat pins and a pair of shaver adapters. I sent them back but wondered if they were actually legal in UK?

The rules as far as I could find them seemed vague but there seemed to be a requirement that any adapter must only be removable with a tool. The common adaptor from Europlug to UK plug springs to mind where the adapter completely encloses the Europlug and is closed with a screw. And presumably bathroom safe two pin sockets have different rules?

But does anyone know what the rules are for wall psu’s in general household sockets?

No.

Items supplied with a plug must either have the UK BS1363 plug fitted, or have a different plug with a fused UK adaptor that can't be removed without a tool.
A separate adaptor is not acceptable, and most of those tend to be unfused anyway which isn't acceptable either.

There are things which can be supplied without any plug, but they are a tiny minority of specialist items not normally sold to the general public.

Bathrooms are unrelated, and the only exception where a different plug can be supplied. Those outlets by design are only usable with very low power items like shavers and toothbrush chargers.
