Now more stats have come in, we can see why the government was pushing the idea that it is too early to discuss coronavirus stats - they want a surprise announcement that we're best in the world. Look, we won!

And amazingly a lot of the countries who are doing better are predominantly of a 'certain faith' :rolleyes:

but this isn't positive tests million people, but actual deaths.

Whilst fully accepting the UK covid response has been dismal I don't think you can do meaningful comparisons of countries data as there's too much variation in the methods of stat gathering and also questions on the honesty / reliability of said data.

I suppose excess deaths could be the best view, but even that needs to be normalised due to the UK's ageing population (hence year on year the death rate creeps up a bit)

The most telling month was April when there were approx 40k excess deaths, since then it's gone down dramatically, but even that doesn't tally with the official covid 19 number of deaths reported by some margin, which is in the region of 60-70k. So what to make of it all, well I guess you can't be certain, all you can say is between Q2 and Q3 in 2020 there have been appox 60-70k excess deaths.

Yes - do you know how a person in England is classed as dying with covid?

PHE check the list of deaths against the list of people who once tested positive for covid.

That includes fully recovered and died from something else.
Suicide? = Covid
Car crash? = covid
Heart Attack = covid
stroke = covid
murdered = covid.

Other countries don't do this. Some even struggle to records deaths at all (India for example).

For excess deaths, we haven't even began. talk to any big Pharma or health sciences company and anything not covid is being ramped down.

England should have asked one of the other UK countries how to do it properly. :whistle:

The Government was making comparisons until the figures turned against them.

Because they are fiddeling the figures

Countries of a certain faith :sneaky: are generaly corrupt

Corruption is a way of life the norm ;)

So, we have Nightingale hospitals that have never been used. We have nhs staff being sent home because there was no work for them, all other procedures having been cancelled.
Cornwall's main hospital shortly after the peak had 16 cases on their wards.

And yet we have the highest number of deaths in the World.

Extraordinary.
