I think it depends on the 'spoons.. due to the low prices, they are often frequented by the towns alcoholics queuing up for their first beer of the day at 8AM. But the new app, means you can sit in a booth and get table service. I have to agree with the earlier post that if you are going out for a few beers, why would you pay another 10-15 quid for a round of drinks?
As for French wine, personally I think its over rated (and vastly cheaper in France). America (the continent), South Africa and NZ all make better produce - I think the Italians did well to get prosecco to pass champagne. I personally prefer champagne, but don't care that much. These day's I'm happier with a Diet Coke.
