What are you having for breakfast?

Just some yoghurt with seeds, nuts and honey plus a couple of slices of marmalade on toast. It’s 11.30 and just had lunch! Off to Center Parcs in a minute, treating the kids and grandkids. No doubt I’ll be breakfast chef. ;)

Kippers.

Lovely to eat but they do leave an aftertaste so in the Mottie household, they are always followed with a slice of bread 'n' jam.

I use them for poaching eggs.

Poaching? I thought they were for containing eggs, when frying, in the frying pan? We have some similar, with the circular part made from silicon heat-resistant rubber. The egg comes out, cooked, in a neat circle, rather than running all over the pan.

Nothing special. I just plop them in the boiling water and crack an egg into them. Once the egg is partially set, I remove them and finish the egg off. Stops it spreading all across the pan. I bought mine from our local department store but they are cheaper on Amazon. It says okay for frying but I found the egg stuck to the side and by the time the egg is cooked on top, the bottom is burnt and the yoke is hard. For a single fried egg, I have a tiny, tiny one-egg frying pan.
