What cable do you like?

What makes of Cable/SWA do you prefer? In order of preference. and any reasons why?

I love them all, except for Hi-Tuf.

Its coiled like a spring and stays like a spring

Sort of Memotek for cables..

I don't really have a preferred brand TBH. That really cheap T&E from screwfix is horrid to strip, especially if it's cold, but I'm not that bothered.

The majority of our mains work is LSF and either singles or YY cable. I don't think there would be much difference between the manufacturers.

Screwfix is generally PxCables, and yes, its not great. I have much the same problem with Prysimian, which is supposed to be a premium brand! JSB aren't so great either.

I like Doncaster and Drakka, nice flexible cables with good old fashoned french chalk between the inner and outer insulation. Only problem is, you can't easily write on the outer insulation with the humble HB pencil!

I remember copper cable company stuff being ok, and drakka was ok. We tend to use doncaster, as my boss likes wasting his money at CEF

so long as it strips easily who cares where it comes from. quality &price is more important than who makes it

used screwfix cable once it was awful to strip. hanni and doncaster have been ok

Donnie, Draka, CCC, Hanni, that Irish Harris fella (is that stuff still around?) all strip fine. The cheap Screwfix one seems ok - quite plasticky like the old smoke free - but easier to strip.

The worst by far is Wessel. I got 5m into a roll once before it became impossible to strip the sheath. Don't know if you still get it, but I have avoided it ever since.

Never had a problem with any particular brand of SWA, but anything over 95mm is a ******* to strip! And never used Hituf, so don't know about that.
