The EU has already forced the Tories to put up a border inside UK territory and it won't stop there, if hadn't it been for Putins invasion of Ukraine we would probably be in a full scale trade war with the EU.
The EU now needs Britain more thsn Britain needs the EU.

A boarder the UK signed up to but what is the real problem with it?

UK man waves a huge collection of documents that may be needed around. EU says what and shows a lot less. Interviews with people actually concerned indicate what is going on. It part relates to hauliers who collect loads from various places into the back of an artic.

NI to UK. The haulier had problems initially as the people he collected from didn't have the paper work ready but they got used to doing it.

UK to NI. Interview a retailer that buys from UK mainland. Phones his suppliers and finds they don't want to be bothered. I mean they'd have to fill a bit of paperwork in. So retailer buys from S Ireland instead. His main interest is having the stuff to sell.

Bizarre aspect is that a vat registered person may have less trouble buying from the EU. A business to business transaction and their bank account will have facilities for payment. The facility for avoiding local EU vat charges has always been there.
