Whats the Bora 1.9 TDI cam belt change intervals?

Basically, according SKF video, if you do loosen the cam sprocket, you're relying on setting the tensioner to get the sprocket rotated back to its correct position.

A 6mm allen key will rotate your tensioner.

The Gated belt kit comes supplied with new nuts for the tensioner and guide.

Do I need to go the local VW and get any other nuts and bolts for the job?

No, that's about it....just be careful removing the crank pulley bolts - they are made of cheese
You may want to replace the bottom rad hose clip with a jubilee type though.

I can understand your apprehension at loosening the cam sprocket, I felt the same when doing the unkeyed cams on my Megane engine. But as long as the crank hasn't moved, if you think about it it's the belt itself that sets the timing as it can't stretch, and it will be obvious after you've set the tensioner if you're out by even just a single tooth. At least your crank sprocket is (I think!) keyed! Even that isn't on the Renaults.

The sprockets are keyed on this one.....don't ask how I found out that the later Renaults aren't

Is all this non-keyed pulleys really worth it for the sake of a degree or 2 of timing? Once the belt has stretched a bit you've lost the accuracy anyhow.

The only reason I can see for it is to make it easier to get the belts on and off.

Personally, I just find the idea of a two part sprocket, where one part is allowed to rotate about the other weird.

If the three bolts were to come loose in service, the timing accuracy is lost.

I got a Gates belt kit ordered up yesterday so will do the the job in due course although I also have my nephew's 8V 1.2 Punto timing belt to do first. That, I'm advised, is a very easy job.

I guess this must be an early one if it has the 8v FIRE engine? That's simple enough, unlike the 16v motor which is a bit of an oddball.

I feel sorry for DIY spanner. His family seem to dump all their old cars on him for repair. My days of doing that are well over, they weren't grateful anyhow.

The Punto is a 2002 reg and apparently anti-clash so if the belt were to break no real problem unless on the motorway at the time.

Its at 120k, no record of a belt change so its over due.
