I am particular about me toast.
Granted, i don't have a Dualit toaster but it does not stop me from preparing it with a bit of care.
For example, once toasted it should be placed in a rack to prevent condensation issues.
The butter/spread should not be applied until the toast is cool enough to resist going soggy with the butter.
The butter/spread should reach all parts of the surface.
Soggy flat chewy toast is awful.
Soldiers should always be narrow enough to penetrate the egg. Cutting broad soldiers is pointless and lazy.
I also add half a cheese triangle (per round) to the spread to give a bit of taste and depth to the soldiers. The wife and kids alway polish these off first.
Thick cut bread had its place but not for toast. Medium is about right.
