would it be safe to wire in series a total of 6 of these 60w lamps, bring the cable into the house and simply fit a plug and plug it into the mains?

and yes i will be using 3 core cable.

Oh well I suppose that'll help although they might still be a bit on the dim side..
By the way, lots of polycarb bulkhead fittings these days don't need an earth and some don't even have a parking position for one.

That may be the case but the connecting cables must have an earth (cpc) conductor. This conductor must be carried through from the source (your plug) to the last fitting.
This is part of the protection for the circuit and how else you you test EFLI if you do not have an "E"??????

yup.. the installation of outdoor light is notifiable.. doesn't matter if they are on a plug or not..

guess i better tell them about my 500w pir light, which i have a hole drilled through the window frame woth the wire connected to a plug and pluged in.... I think not.

yes you should have.. and you've contraveined the building regs anyway there.. can't have more than a 150W TH lamp...

well there is not a hope in hell that i will be removing it or changing it to a lower wattage.

and i will be proceeding to install my bulkheads on sunday.

so now you've NO excuse if you get caught.. you can't claim ignorance now that we've told you...

6 bulkheads at 60w each is no different from using a extension lead and a lawn mower, is no different from using a electrical hook up when camping and no different from using a outdoor electrical grill to cook on when listning to elvis on the stereo also pluged into a extension lead.

And I hope to hell that one of your neighbours is aware of the law and drops you right in it, you *******.

all of which are temporary installations..
the fact that the bulkheads will be fixed to your house or property make them a permanent installation and therefore notifiable regardless of the connection method..

if however you would like to put up some festoon lighting tied on with string then that's temporary.. you can get away with that.. :)
