I can't think of any time ever that I would have both oven and all 4 rings of the hob working. The most would be oven and two rings.

Steve: Are you sure that outlet plate is spec'd to take 2 load cables? I don't know the beast myself. If not, this one is.

Saw one on here the other day, just a standard outlet plate, with a socket spurred off it, on a dual box. looked ok. Not sure about whether its specced for it though.

I've been away working for a bit and missed this thread.

Good grief.

And thank you for all the PM's of support.

Unfortunatly on this forum, you need to be 'friends' before members can send PMs to one another.

You currently have no friends.

You are a liar, and I suspect a quite convincing troll.

even if it is a troll, there is a lot of good information comming out and it might help someone in a similar situation..

if you think she's a troll then stop feeding her and go away...

Out of interest, has anyone noticed the number of views of this post? Morbid fascination, genuine concern, or what?

so apparently it's not the peroxide that causes the brain damage, it's being good looking and not having a padded headboard..!!!

So how easy is it to do? Do I need to disconect the whole gas supply first or do I just make sure the hob gas rings aren't turned to 'on'?
...

oh boy....

But how do I 'tap in' to a nearby electricity point? Is it called creating a spur or something?

NoNoNoNoNo!

Apart from miniature one-ringers used in caravans and bedsits, an electric hob takes a large current and CANNOT be supplied from a socket, or from tapping into a socket circuit.

It needs a dedicated cooker supply circuit, with a 32A or higher MCB and 6mm or bigger cable, and big switch and outlet.

If you do not already have a cooker circuit, start saving up for a professional job, or get a nice gas hob (which is quicker to heat, more controllable, safer, and cheaper to run)

so this isn't the first time then?  august 2008!!

Hob 6.4kw = 27.8 AMPS
2. So I decided to use a cable rated at 3A for it.

Curiosity over whether the realisation of her limitations will ever dawn on her?

I'm not going to switch anything on at all, unless I and everyone else is 100% sure there are no problems. If that means getting in an electrician, that's what I'll do.
Maybe it has..

All trolls are liars - it's what they do.

Unfortunately, there are those people who, for whatever reasons, completely ignore what they are told and do something else instead.
Reason a) They are stupid.
Reason b) They are a troll.
Reason c) Both of the above.

Still don't think she is stupid?

I have no idea her level of inteligence, and neither do you and you were making personal attacks..
for all you know she might be a biochemist on the verge of finding a cure for cancer, or a theoretical physicist about to prove unified string theory..

that doesn't mean she automatically knows how to wire a hob or change the brakes on her car...

she, like all of the pro's and advisers on this forum, has to start somewhere and learn the stuff she needs to know.. so she came here to ask...

the realy stupid thing would have been to plug it in and watch it melt, THEN come and ask what went wrong..

( my comment about the peroxide was ment in jest )
