The amount of times, i've heard mates in the pub, say that if their son/daughter turned out to be gay they would disown them..........
 WHAT.....??????

This got me thinking....................

Ok...you may not be happy.......in fact, you may be quite p*ssed off about about it (depending on the severity of your views)......

It's never happened to me with my son, but what if it did with yours....?????

Where would you draw the line....????????

1) Upon introduction, would you shake the boyfriends hand.....???????

2) Would you enjoy your sunday dinner in the same way, with him sitting there...????????

3) And of course the ultimate dilemma...............If your son asked if they could 'stay for the night' ..........   ......What would be the answer...???????

For me........I'd find it completely gutting.........BUT he would still be my son ......and i'd love him as such.......................

Interesting.............

Happened to my friends brother (turning gay overnight) The old man didn't like the idea at first but ultimately he got over it, like Arthur Fowler did in Eastenders.
Don't have kids but if one turned out gay I wouldn't be that bothered, although I would probably say "are you SURE you're gay" for the first 6 months.

Having said that if he turned out like Graham Norton I'd probably slit his fkin throat!!!!

  I agree with the graham norton bit ......but.......Would you disown your own son (if you had one) ??????

No, and I believe very few people would, even if they say so out of a sense of some macho BS.

well he isnt going to produce you any grandchildren now, so his usefulness has just diminished 50%..............

I'd be more ****ed off if either of my daughters have ****ed their lives because of drugs.

Agreed, not at all desirable.
Sounds familiar to what one of our previous regulars has been through.

Another interesting question arises here.

Is it right to have kids just because your parents are putting pressure on you to give them grandchildren?

er, no. when would that ever be right?

Absolutely agreed..........

But if one of your daughters fell in love with a female how would you deal with that........or at least feel about it....??????????????

With respect, this is easy, and hardly worth being a question...
But for me, their sexuality will be their business.... their religion will be their business.... their political view will be their business... and i will love them more than my own life for all of that...

However, if they rape and or kill a child... not only will i stop loving them... i will want to see them locked away until long after i'm dead....
simples!! :)

LMB... can i ask you a direct question... what is your opinion of gay people?

And what would you do if one of your offspring confessed to being gay?

Their sexual preferences are their own business and as long as they are happy in any relationship they choose I'd be happy. They are aged 20 and 18 yrs old, so adults to choose.

Surely the first parental task would be to try and support your offspring through the mental and physical angst that they must be coming to terms with?
John :)

it's not a task, it's an instinct... and you're dead right... support them for all your life's worth... unless they cross the line into serious crime....
