Any musicians on here

I play guitar, have been self taught, best thing I ever did, love it, its a great escape after a crap day at work. Learning piano at the moment also. Was never musical when younger so never bothered.

As long as you can count, and hear you will be fine :)

I also like to design and build electric guitars (although it's a rather expensive and time consuming hobby) ;) ;) ;)

No it's not. I make money doing it so where is the big 'cost'?

Hmm, A few hundred quid for timber for starters,(have you tried getting mahogany in 16" wide boards these days?) then there's the pickups (depending what you want. A set of Seymour Duncan can cost up to £200) The rest of the hardware. Then finally, the finishing. How do you put a price on the cost of your time?

PS I'm not talking about these kits , you can buy, with ready machined body, neck etc and sling together Joe, I'm talking right from scratch.

Let's see piccies then - and Duncans are nowhere near that price.

I got a JB for 26 quid and a Jazz for 18 off Ebay. You are being silly and you know it. Besides, Tonerider are the best pickups out there - and they are cheap.

As for my piccy's . they were all on this hard drive //www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=287572

Which has since went to meet it's maker (along with other priceless stuff that was on it)

How very convenient.

So you are a guitar maker with no guitars and no pictures of said guitars? You don't know how to back up files? FFS - we know you are blagging it - give it a rest.

Joe, I provided a couple of links, to prove just how much pickups can cost, then you come along telling us, you can buy them off ebay, then admit you think Tonerider are the best pickups out there. !!
Next , you'll be telling me that Squire make excellent guitars.

John, I use this site to back up. Give it a whirl mate, it's free so nothing lost if you don't find it useful. You get 2GB of space. I use it for sharing files, documents, photos etc.

Lets see some of the guitars you've built then Joe.

By the way, I admire you lads that have taken the time to learn to play an instrument. I'd love to be able to play guitar and piano but know I haven't the time or the determination to learn.

Well actually it's 'Squier' and they are fantastic guitars - I've got a four of them and prefer them to my American Standards. (Strat and Tele)

All they need is setting up and decent pickups.

It's obvious that you are totally clueless about guitars.

I'll show you mine when he shows you his. I tend to buy renovate and sell. I'd like to see him make the necks.

Thanks for the link Blas. TBQH, backup was something I'd never considered before I lost my HDD (pity we're not all as forward looking as Joe)

Edit (don't want to get involved in personal attacks now, there's been enough bitching on here recently)
Safe to say I have provided links to superior products that Joe now deems inferior, to cheaper stuff.
