Next time, don't answer the phone...

Those radio presenters are getting counselling for what is, in effect although probably not in the eyes of the law, manslaughter. I think I'll pretend to be someone important, say Richie Benaud, and phone their shrinks to find out how they're doing.

They are a pair of typical vapid radio presenter type tosspots, and what they did was wrong. I don't think their apology would very sensitive either, i mean honestly "Sorry if we caused any issues"? someone killed themselves. Don't apologise at all if you can't acknowledge the severity of the situation.

The apology you refer to, was issued before the death.

I wonder if someone at the hospital gave her a hard time, over passing the call through.

Whilst it is tragic what has happened, an apparently healthy ingelligent and caring person (imo) has decided to snuff herself out. Blimey, grow a thicker skin and deal with it, dont remove yourself from existence.

That is quite true, we dont know the full story but as you say there could have been a dismissal case coming her way from the hospital,,,but still very sad that it came to this

Im not judging her. Just her actions. She surely will have left people who loved / cared for her behind. I just cannot have empathy with people who cut short their own life. Am I Narrow-minded? Yep, I guess so.

Point made and taken. It was your use of "grow a thicker skin" that irked me - it isn't always that simple. Do you honestly think that if she could have then she deliberately chose not to, if you catch my meaning?

We've had this argument before about whether it's an act of selfishness or not and no doubt will do so again (unfortunately). Irrational and broken minds come to rationalised irrational conclusions and on occasions they act on them to catastrophic effects.

As indicated in a previous post, IMHO the radio presenters are guilty of manslaughter, although they weren't to know that their vainglorious self indulgence would have such dramatic conclusions and thus will not ever be prosecuted in a court of law. One can only hope that they will reflect on their infantile behaviour and serve suitable penance, although it does seem inappropriate that they should be looking for counselling under the circumstances.

She must have been about to top herself anyway since so little put her over the edge.

Similar feelings as i am a sufferer and often sit on the edge, not as much nowadsays, but if she was this way, she should not even be in this job.

Left children behind? rather serious mental health case.

It isn't always clear cut. Young fella at work a couple of years ago topped himself. Popular bloke with good social life. There was no indication that he had anything awry - no medical condition came to light, no history of depression nor self harming, He was laughing and joking at work as normal. No girly problems. No known reason at all. But he went home, tied a noose around his head and hung himself from his door.

It's this accusation of "selfishness" that bothers me. Would you apply the same accusation to someone who happened to slip and broke his or her neck, or trip down some stairs and become paralysed? What about someone who has a stroke or develops MS? I doubt it, as you'd probably claim that these were mostly unavoidable mishaps. So why do you use the word "selfish" when someone has had a catastrophic failure in mental cognisance or possibly a chemical failure which necessitate her to forcibly shut her system down?

Absolutely NO selfishness involved at all. That person has now found their peace.

The selfishness comes from people that don't understand.
