A nurse at a London hospital who took a hoax call about the Duchess of Cambridge has been found dead.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said in a statement they were "deeply saddened" by the death of the nurse, named as Jacintha Saldanha.

King Edward VII hospital paid tribute to "a first class nurse" who was the "victim of a hoax call."

The hospital management should have debriefed the nurse and told her that no action would be taken against her over the incident.

Its really sad that this has happened , the nurse doing her job one day then thrown into the media the next day...some people just cannot handle it but the callers must feel awful as it was meant to be some harmless fun

People who pull these stunts/hoaxes whatever, should learn the golden rule.

For every action there is a reaction. Its like throwing a firework at someone. Some it will frighten, others may have a medical condition and it kills them.

Have fun by all means, but make sure it is on someone you know will be able to handle it.

Isn't phoning up someone claiming to be somebody else a form of fraud or Identity Theft? One could argue that these two presenters acted for commercial gain (reputation and publicity) and as such should be prosecuted. After all Conny, you know my feelings about ID theft

We have no idea what she, as a person, was like.
If she was the extrovert type then maybe she had personal issues in her private life and this was the last straw.

If she was the introvert type then being blamed by the worlds media for such a mistake as this could easily have been the catalyst.
Until a full enquiry has been held we will not know why she did it.

Really quite sad that somebody thought this trivial non-event was important enough to kill themselves. There will be a lot of outfits now working out how to blame everybody else for what happened.
