National Anthem.

Footballers opt to not sing the anthem all the time but that is usually because they are foreign.....
What, even when they are playing for their national team?

I think you were bang on the money when you said thick.(y)

Isn't it time to replace it with a NATIONAL anthem rather than a PERSONAL anthem?

Not even Kim Jong-il has a PERSONAL anthem. In fact no other country has a personal anthem apart from this one.

If you are a Republican then you don't sing it.

If you are an Atheist I don't see how you can sing it.

Shouldn't our anthem really be Jerusalem?

No wonder Jeremy didn't sing it.
Maybe he forgot the words.

There's a new movement afoot. It will now become optional to sing the anthem and completely accepted if you do not. Personally, I won't.
Footballers opt to not sing the anthem all the time but that is usually because they are foreign or too thick to learn the words. I am no royalist and would not sing the anthem but then it is not expected of me because I am not a public figure at a war memorial. At the moment Corbyn just reminds me of an insolent child but time will tell I suppose.

A lot of these socialists seem like petulant children, always needing to make meaningless points to try to prove they are with the 'people'. Reminds me of Gordo when he insisted on wearing a suit to the Mansion House speach/dinner, when the dress code is always black tie. They think rebelling when they're in a position of responsibility and old enough to know better is clever. Just shows how rude and petty they are.

The theme to the Archers sounds good.

For The UK in the 21st century, maybe the theme tune for Eastenders or Corrie may be more appropriate.

As for athiests singing Jerusalem, I'm not sure that athiests are big on singing hymns.

The man has shown himself to be a fool.
...and a hypocrite!

One minute he's claiming to want the monarchy abolished, then the next he's decided to sing the National Anthem which is tantamount to supporting the monarchy.
Which is it?

Answer: neither. He's only interested in gaining as much support as he can, so he's trying to keep everyone happy!

He leads a party. Did you get that - a party. He's not a one man band he heads a party. Simple when you think about it JBR.

No, the point is that the national anthem is about more than the monarchy, it also means something to 'the people'.

That he failed to understand such a basic concept is telling of his judgement.

Which 'people'. Not the far left and the union leaders, surely?

He is a complete and utter idiot, just the same as the rest of the politicians, where if you have more than three or four active / working brain cells you are excluded.........

He leads a party you know!

Doesn't set a very good example for a leader though does he. Back peddling in your first week as party leader is not good.

Parties are all about compromise. Don't you know that?
