I just thought I'd let you all know that, since I retired, I am now living in Portugal.
Good for you! Does that mean that you have to be banished to that other forum?I just thought I'd let you all know that, since I retired, I am now living in Portugal.

Not sure what you mean.Good for you! Does that mean that you have to be banished to that other forum?
In theory, yes, but here there are time restrictions if you do not register as a resident - which I have.I wonder ... are you allowed to live there by virtue of our membership of the EU. If so ....??!!

Clue .... DIYnot has two 'Electrics' forumsNot sure what you mean.
The serious point is that I trust/hope that the UK's 'exit' from the EU (something which you presumably didn't dream was going to happen when you left these shores) will not in any way jeopardise your position in Portugal. As you will be aware, the other way around, many non-UK EU folk who are living (and, in many/most cases, working) in UK are worried (one hopes unjustifiably) that they may be 'sent home' if/when we actually get out of the EU.In theory, yes, but here there are time restrictions if you do not register as a resident - which I have.
I know, but one only has to switch on the TV to see that there are many of those 'others' currently in the UK who are very concerned about their future here.JW2: According to May, "others" will be allowed to continue living "here" as long as "we" can continue to live "there".
Let me see you are not lying, I am going to check your IP address, just give me a few seconds I am going to ask my helpful friend Googledoogle.Since last December, but I didn't want to say anything until the paperwork was all finalised.![]()

Oh, I see. Surely that relates to the subject not the replier's location.Clue .... DIYnot has two 'Electrics' forums![]()

We have, but I do wonder whether some OPs might be less confident to accept advice about electrics in the UK, particularly that relating to regulatory matters, if the provider of that advise was flying an 'alien' flag! As for Irish (and even Welsh!), I doubt that many OPs realise the appreciable differences in regulations and/or practices.Well, we've had posters from the US, other European and still have Irish. See how it goes.
Does that not apply to the rest of Europe as well?As for Irish (and even Welsh!), I doubt that many OPs realise the appreciable differences in regulations and/or practices.
