Panorama BBC1 10July: Is Labour anti-semitic?

Please do not make the mistake of thinking that everybody here is so stupid that they will believe the stupid things you write.

Some of us are better than you.

Notch is equally critical of the Tories. He has a sickenly balanced view and does sway in the wind

You: your so one sided I'm surprised you don't fall side over heels.

I admire some policies and some MPs from both sides. I dont believe in tribalism in politics, thats not swaying in the wind.

A very long article?

A little over 1000 words.

Just WT* is wrong with you that you think that is very long?

Just how limited is your ability to pay attention to anything?

You're another one who is so bad at this that you have no right to be here.

The article was certainly long enough to have given details of the questions asked, or do you feel that's not important.
As for me having no right to be here, myself and the moderators will decide that, not you, anyway, after the mods earlier comments, sounds like you will soon have 'no right' to be here.:D

Well said Bodd hats off I must concur here Notch does indeed have a the ability to give a rational unbiased view of most situations on here. Well apart from some of the Brexit stuff but that's just diversity in motion (y)

Meanwhile BAS is just a walking social semtex oxymoron.

The real reason this "antisemitism in the Labour party" ****** has dragged on for so long is because it isn't really about antisemitism in the Labour party, it is about removing Corbyn and his acolytes from the leadership of the party.
Corbyn was considered a joke when he took over the Labour party but he isn't considered a joke any longer, although he may be despised by the media and a lot of the PLP he still has strong support from the membership, so the prospect of him being removed by the grassroots supporters looks remote.
If Corbyn remains leader of the Labour party there is a possibility he could become prime minister and you only have to look at his policies to see the danger, he would recognise Palestine and ban weapon exports to Israel and Saudia Arabia which would wind up the Israelis and Arabs no end.
Domestically he says he would tax the rich more which will cause extreme consternation among the tax dodging community, also he has pledged to allow in even more migrants and asylum seekers which will windup the Daily Mail readership and Tommy Robinson.
With all the above it is not surprising that there is obviously a concerted effort by his opponents to remove the possibility of him ever getting his hands on the levers of power.

Notch
as much as I was sticking up for your qualitys. I just had to have a dig.
Only because your not like our Maggie.

I'm pretty sure that the reason there is such a campaign against him.

His other left-wing policies, such as public ownership of national utilities and improving public services, have broad public support so are mostly kept out of the news.

He has my support

Agree it's all about Corbyn I still put a fiver on slim fast Watson being behind all this bet you hes the next Labour leader.what bothers me more is this 'tax the rich' comment...what is 'rich' how do you differentiate between hard working and plain over indulged decadence. Thats the issue I completely disagree with him and many others dying to see the 'rich' toppled and all their monies given to the deserving masses. Who deserves it more than the hard working?

You really are shockingly bad at this, aren't you.

And BTW - use of the term "whataboutery" is, 99.999999999999999999999999% of the time, an attempt by the person using it to deflect examination of his own hypocrisy or bias

Im struggling to see how your post (#32), is anything but whataboutery.
Its a long post pointing out the issue of Islamophobia in the Tory party. You made no attempt to discuss the topic of Labours appalling anti semitism.

This definition of whataboutery seems to be an apt description of your post:
Whataboutism, also known as whataboutery, is a variant of the tu quoque logical fallacy that attempts to discredit an opponent's position by charging them with hypocrisy without directly refuting or disproving their argument, which in the United States is particularly associated with Soviet and Russian propaganda

If you genuinly believe my interpretation is wrong, I would be happy to stand corrected.......

Unfortunately the media love to label people into over simplistic descriptions. So Corbyn is labelled simply labelled a socialist and that has lead a lot of the electorate to fear him. I often hear on the radio 'I am terrified of a Corbyn government'. Unfortunately Corbyn has been proud of his 'Ive moved the centre ground left' stuff and their wacky announcements about taxing the rich.

In reality, Corbyn is more about taxing the rich properly so they pay the full amount of tax. Apart from anything else, why should Starbucks pay less tax than the independant cafe next door.

Taxation is tricky, a government needs to be seen as business friendly to encoursge business to the UK, whilst retreiving sufficient tax to fund services.

In terms of Tom Watson and Corbyn, well Labour have a massive internal split. The Corbyn hard left are trying to take over the party so he has a lot of enemies.

There are some good MPs in Labour that do good work, but they are sidelined in the party because they arent pro Corbyn.

I’ve just watched the Panorama documentary ‘Is Labour Antisemitic?’ fronted by Sun ‘journalist’ John Ware, a man previously renowned for a 2015 Panorama documentary which was basically one long attack on Corbyn and for another programme claiming that a pro-Palestinian charity was being used as a front for terrorism - a false charge which ended up with the BBC having to apologise and pay damages.

I’m not going to mince my words. There are antisemites in the Labour Party. I have encountered them on my travels round the country. I have met and seen social media posts by idiots (or worse) spreading conspiracy theories about Jews/Rothschilds/Mossad etc and I have come across a few people unable to distinguish between legitimate and justified criticism of the disgusting policies of the Likudite Israeli Government and generalised statements about ‘Jews’. Antisemitism is an issue. The numbers are small, but it is disgusting and it needs to be rooted out.

But the way NOT to root it out is to broadcast a politically biased hatchet job by a former Murdoch employee with an axe to grind about the Labour Party making claims of ‘institutionalised antisemitism’ and basically accusing the entire Labour Party of being antisemitic - for political ends. That is a revolting slur, which is entirely counterproductive and will make rooting out the real antisemites more difficult - if you accuse people of being antisemites who are not, the accusation loses all credibility and the ones who are feel safer.

Shame on you, BBC. The endless attacks from the Tory government and right wing media are obviously having an effect. This programme was not made to expose antisemitism - if it had been, it would have been very different. It was made to help keep the Tories in power and besmirch the good name of countless anti racist and anti fascist activists all over this country in order to score political points.

I have been physically attacked by antisemites and have opposed them my whole life. That programme basically accused me of being one by being a Labour Party member. Utterly disgusting, unprecedented and contemptible.

^^^ great post ^^^

The anti semitism issue is so mired with hidden agendas due to connections with Israel and or those opposing Corbyn that its hard to know whats true and what isnt.

Sadly like Brexit the media, especially online is littered with 'alternative facts'
