It hardly applies in cases of suspected misconduct. You can be suspended pending an investigation, especially if your continued presence might hamper the investigation. (Or if your continued presence might adversely affect your employer.)On, I thought you were innocent until proven guilty? Maybe not of you’re a Tory, eh?
Has DC been suspended in this case? If there was an investigation, is he in a position to hamper that investigation?

As far as I can tell, it's been a few quiet words with Bojo, and nothing more.

What's more, DC thought he was in imminent danger of feeling ill with the virus.
Assuming he was travelling within the speed limit, it would take him at least 4 hours to travel. Plenty of time for him to fall seriously ill and need recovery/assistance, etc.
Lot can happen in 4 hours driving, with an ailing wife, a child, and imminent danger of falling ill!
Yeah, these people that say one thing and do another make you sick, don’t they?

What DC did is in the past, and he is potentially denying what he did.
What you are suggesting is someone says they intend to do something, then change their mind. That is completely different.
One scenario: This morning, I said I didn't go out last night, but I did really. That is denying the truth.
I intended to go out last night, and yesterday I said I was going out, but then I changed my mind. That is not denying the truth. It's a simple change of mind, nothing more sinister than that.
Well it’s all down to how he interpreted things and how he felt with regards to the health and safety of his family. You or I may have acted the same. Now, if he lies about his whereabouts, that’s a whole different matter and he should then be sacked and not even given the option of resigning.

If he'd been apprehended by the police, he would have undoubtedly received a penalty.
As would anyone else.
