I've worked it out ......

In my job I adhere to the standards and good practice that's required. I'm conscientiousness in my work, when I do a job I do it to the best of my ability and as though it was in my own home.

I don't cut corners and little things that need attention I'll just do it though not necessarily in the mandate of the job I'm there to do, through experiance I just sort it out !
I'll take a bit longer and do things which eliminate call backs....it pays me as having to go back free of charge is a pain.

So the illegals crossing the chanel are cutting corners, if they were truly asylum seekers why the cutting corners??

There are cunning organised gangsters profiteering from trafficking wretched people. You should be asking questions about them.

RAC once said he'd gladly stand on the shore and shoot any refugees (women and children alike) dead as they struggle up the shore. Then he later claimed he didn't mean it and was just being a troll.

Gasbanni still can't tell us, neither has anyone else offered to explain, what the legal route is to claim asylum in UK.
If there is no legal route, then all other routes are illegal. And UK has closed the legal avenues for claiming asylum in UK.

The same could be said about cunning politicians/corporates who profiteer on an incalculably larger scale...

And who cause the plight of human migration (legal or illegal) in the first place...

But some blinkered people seem to prefer to take it out on victims!

Do you mean companies that lure cheap European workers over here? I thought you were all for that - I’m sure I remember you banging on about health and care workers as well as fruit pickers. Do you have an ethical purchasing policy by any chance?

Well you don't have to worry about that anymore do you...

For example...

"Before Brexit a lot of the UK's hospitality workforce was made up of workers from overseas, including from the EU, but hundreds of thousands of foreign workers have left the UK over the last year and it is unclear whether they will return."

"Younger working-age people in their 20s and 30s have left in the greatest numbers"

"Another problem is the number of workers still on furlough.
While they are waiting to return to work they are less willing to switch employers/employment."

You don't know anyone like that do you?

No, I don't think it is your work ethic that annoys you about foreigners coming here.

But seriously, some of these "illegals" (who are not actually illegal) are probably not even aware that they are cutting corners, they pay a hefty sum, probably told it's all legit. 3 months later, after watching their kids drown in the Med, they are in a dingy in the Channel before being slung in a cell indefinitely.

Migration isn't a new thing, it's been happening - in and out - for centuries, mostly unnoticed, by most people. A lot of neighbours, work colleagues, best friends, will be here because of immigrant ancestors. I'll bet the most ardent opposers of immigration have friends that are descended from immigrants but, somehow, that's different. And remember, twelve thousand years ago nobody was here because of the ice age, so we are all immigrants really.

But that shouldn't mean that we can't raise questions about immigration today. The UK has always been in the slightly odd situation whereby to get here you have to pass through Europe, so refugees travelling overland always raise that tricky question of why they want to specifically come to the UK when they have already reached safety. As usual, the two ends of the scale throw insults at each other claiming all sorts of nonsense, and we don't actually get to the real truth either way.

Many do aim for the UK because they have heard the UK is 'better'. I've heard refugees say it so it is pretty much undisputable. But refugees go to other places in Europe as well. If the UK is so much better, why do that? Why go to Germany, if the Germans are so harsh and terrible? Why France with all the nasty, unfriendly French people offering no housing and no free TV licences? (a lot of refugees settle in France - the ones that stand on the beach looking over the channel are a small fraction of the overall) I think it must be because those people have 'heard' stories from a different group of people. They leave harsh and difficult circumstances and head to where they think they might make a better life. Some are in touch with people from the UK that have done well, others hear from people in Germany that have done well, and so on. So, yes, some do head for the UK because they think it might offer something better, but many others do not.

Of course, not all 'refugees' are leaving harsh and difficult circumstances. Many aren't actually refugees at all. The bleeding hearts prefer to say everybody's a refugee and you're a racist if you say otherwise. These people possibly mean well but don't know anything about people and immediately destroy their own arguments by alienating the people they are trying to influence. The UK has always taken in refugees and other immigrants. Most go unnoticed. Others, in sailboats for example, stand out like a sore immigrant.

UK and France are 5th and 6th wealthiest countries (net wealth) or were as of 2019. Something's never rung true with me as to why they didn't collectively flood the channel and border areas with guards, boats etc. The channel tunnel fiasco was exactly that, a fiasco. People in broad daylight running behind slow moving lorries trying to get in the back, with no one doing anything to stop them. I think the UK eventually sent some 2nd hand fencing after a few years to help matters after years of politicians bickering about it ... just DO something! They talk and talk and talk with very little action.

I don't blame those trying to get in, who am I to judge, yes some will be out and out chancers, however many aren't, including the kids. However I do blame authorities on both sides for not essentially throwing money at the borders for a few years to discourage the traffickers.

Migration .... and we don't actually get to the real truth either way.

Maybe they can speak English. Maybe they have family here already. Maybe they want their children to grow up speaking English. Maybe their parents or grandparents have some association with UK, just like political loyalty tends to be copying their peers so is wanting to be associated with a new country.

WHY DO THEY ALL WANT TO COME HERE???? BECAUSE BRITAIN IS GREAT!!!

But ... they don't all want to come here, do they? Just more lies from the anti-foreigner press.
