Looking at the travel requirements it seems now that as non EU Citizens we need to have an exceptional reason to visit Germany.

I was planning to visit family in Germany but I am not sure I can at the moment and I would rather visit them sooner rather than later.

We've been looking at a possible driving trip to Germany. I think it's no quarantine if you test negative or you are double vaccinated.

Correct if you test negative or can prove that you have been fully vaccinated with pfizer, moderna then there is no need to isolate when you arrive. But I will be travelling by air.

However - how will you get around your need to enter?

There has been some chit chat on ex-pat sites that negative tests required in the last 72 hours have arrived late and they've had to procure new tests.
So ensure any test results required will arrive in time.

Use this airline, no need for a visa.

Ahh, I hadn't noticed that UK has gone back on the risk list. I presume it will come off again at some point.

And the usual suspects, when seeing mention of Germany, cannot stop themselves from dribbling in their pants in connection with events of 80 years ago.

what like the usual suspects going on about the UK involvement in slavery  and the dire british empire

any way what happened in Germany 80 years ago

You have more chance being infected in Germany than the UK at the moment, and the Indian variant is already widespread in Germany, who banned travel from India later than the UK.
