Global demand, nothing to do with Brexit. Why have prices shotup and availability dropped fown?

Not true.nothing to do with Brexit.
Brexit is contributing to the higher costs of building materials as well as other factors.Oh right
UK, not USOh right
Manufacturers are struggling to catch up with reduced output due to the pandemic. On top of that demand for the base materials is unprecedented. Most of the materials in greatest shortage are not imported. Why have prices shotup and availability dropped fown?

UK, not US
"The price of home improvements has spiked by as much as 80pc as raw material costs continue to soar as a result of Brexit"
"It's a combination of the fact that Brexit pushed prices up - one of our suppliers in France has just told us they can't supply us anymore"
Of course brexiteers will blame anything/anyone but brexit!
As I said, brexiteers blame anyone/anything but themselvesWhen Jewsons had a shortage some months back they referred to the US shortage. Shipments of timber leaving Sweden were being diverted to the US because they could get a much higher price. Nothing to do with Brexit.
Loads of other building materials produced in this country are in short supply as well.
Manufacture stopped, stocks were run down, demand went through the roof, or it would have if roof tiles were available.
