AVRO has just gone bust which is surprising as it had nearly 600,000 customers and not previously considered a risky minnow. Online accounts are locked so unable to access my statements to confirm current balance.
Not a happy bunny :(

I'm one of those apathetic types that ignore all those offers of 'greener grass' and savings etc. I get my gas and leccy from British Gas and have done for yonks. Fingers crossed they will survive this ****e storm.

I am unsurprised and not displeased.

I had the misfortune to try to become a customer of theirs earlier this year.

After a few months I was able to sign up with a less incompetent company.

There is an interesting Faceache page called "Avro energy problem reporting page"

I’m with So energy…..so am keeping my fingers crossed. (n)

We were with them last year but when the renewal came up their quote was ridiculous. To get a cheaper quote we had to have a smart meter installed so bit the bullet and got one installed. Re-quoted us and the price was even higher! Went back to OVO after 2 years away and theirs was cheaper than what we were paying SO last year.

We're with OVO and I had just renewed our 2 year fixed dual fuel contract last week. Estimated monthly payment based on last years usage £127. Just looked on their site and if I was joining now, based on the same figures the estimated monthly charge would be £185. Fingers crossed they don’t go pop.

They are also the supplier of last resort, so you will be funding the failures in your bills anyway. I have to say I don't shop around much. I picked Octopus at random. British Gas do pee rather a lot away on trying to re-invent themselves as an IT company, Financial service Company, breakdown company.. Hive is pretty much the only success and they have been losing market share on that.

I find with OVO my lights are slightly brighter and my heating slightly hotter than other makes of gas or electricity…………….…

British Gas have many a loyal customer, because they want to buy their Gas from Britain.

I was in the process of transferring to AVRO and had just paid the first direct debit payment to them before they took over the account from Eon.

As the transfer wasn't complete, i'm expecting a world of pain and bureaucratic confusion.

There is a regulatory framework in place for OfGen to transfer the customers. You'll probably end up with British Gas. You can't switch as it will get blocked, unless yours didn't go through. But then you lose your payment on account. So sit tight.

That's exactly what i'm planning on doing.

I'm going to be paying more than the fixed rate i was on with Avro, but i'm resigned to that. I'm more concerned that i'm going to be in no man's land as Avro went under mid transfer so it'll be interesting to see how good Ofgen's emergency systems are.....
