An acquittal signifies that a prosecutor failed to prove his or her case beyond a reasonable doubt, not that a defendant is innocent.
The only reason Trump was acquitted was partisanship and a senate majority. And even then, many Republicans agreed that he should have been punished and that his behaviour was dire.
