Man made climate change

"Major sea-level rise from the melting of the Greenland ice cap is now inevitable, scientists have found, even if the fossil fuel burning that is driving the climate crisis were to end overnight."

Might as well crack on as normal then.

Greenlanders could well end up as the richest population on earth

Not that many people live there and afaik there constitution states that the wealth of the nation is shared equally ??

Ice cap melting could mean the interior opens up for gold diamond and other precious metals to be mined ??

There days of eating seals and huskeys could be numbered

Champagne and caviar could be on the agenda ??

Only if you're not worried about the additional 6.5m of potential sea level rise from the rest of Greenland's glaciers that may or may not be avoided by taking action.

All I know is it was c-c-c-cold in Whistler earlier this year. Not much fresh snow though (whilst we were there).

From the same source as previously posted, the warnings about the East Antarctic Ice Sheet should be taken seriously: a 52m rise in sea level would change your mind about taking a holiday by the seaside. "Sea level is rising faster now than at any time for the past 3,000 years as mountain glaciers and the Greenland ice cap melt, and ocean waters expand as they heat...this will have profound consequences for coastal cities from New York to Shanghai."
Watching Weather World on the BBC, a scientist explained the changes in the Jet Stream are bringing wetter weather to Australia, where they've had their worst floods for decades, and i'm sure you're aware of the devastation in Pakistan.
Whatever your source of information, or even where it comes from, the changes in climate are real, regardless of cause, the effects will leave future generations cursing our inertia at a time when we can make a difference.

As a society we struggle to look further ahead than 4 or 5 years, and with so many other pressing problems the fact that over the next 1000 years sea level rise will become a serious problem, esp when some of the worlds most populus areas need to find some where else to live!

But it is quite a thought that cities like London will have to be moved to higher ground in may be 400 to 600 years time. I wonder if theywill just abandon it or will they try and move all the historic buildings stone by stone.

if sea levels are rising, and the problems escalating I don't think it will be 1000 years before it's a problem.

islands in the Pacific are struggling now, and the problem is likely to increase exponentially.

Sooner than that, we're looking at at least 50cm by 2100 which makes cities like Hull very vulnerable. London will get an upgraded tidal barrier but anywhere less significant but equally or more at rosk will have to be engineered to survive being flooded or abandoned.
