so you preferred to pay whatever price a monopoly charged rather than have competition to drive down prices which is why the market was opened up after privatisation
What cobblers! I don’t know you or what you do in your spare time but I can guarantee you one thing it’ll take less time for you to search out better utility deals that will last you a year than you spend every day on this forum! Give up posting on here for one day and that will be more than enough time to sort out your gas, electric, car insurance, home insurance, travel insurance, mobile and broadband contracts.

just cancelled my virgin package only wanted broadband which they offer at 26 quid for new customers lowest they would come down to was 47 quid so said nope cancel it .So unless they come back with something i will be going to sky for theirs neighbours have it and say it spot on with no problems
It’s called 'competition'. Tell me, when you buy a new telly, fridge, vacuum cleaner, holiday etc etc, do you just walk into any shop and buy it, in the belief that it is the same price everywhere else?

Yes it’s terrible how the nationalised energy supplier in France put up prices by 4% …..it’s awful the way customers had no choice
Luckily in the U.K. we had loads of choice when energy prices went up 80%
And if the privatised energy supplier market is so great how come 80% of them just went bust?
And who actually subsidised the real price increase at the time , oh yeah the french taxpayers so they actually did pay the full whack in one way or another.
