Nearly killed myself in the afternoon of my test day going for a first solo drive to my brothers house in Dulwich, I lived about 20 miles away.

Slightly OT, let's be honest, there's nothing better than getting your licence and having the new found freedom to go places under your own steam so to speak.

Passed in 1981, BSM Toledo or Dolomite, can't recall which one, but it was a Triumph (the car, as well as passing)
A week before I took my test a mate took me out for a run on the old L plates and asked me what I was most nervous of, I said 'busy traffic'. So he made me drive over 20 miles into Central London, up Oxford street and three times round Piccadilly Circus.. It worked.
Although I've driven and worked in London for many years, after living in Cornwall for nearly 20 years, I get a bit twitchy the days going back, especially in Slough with the temporary bus lanes or the M4/M25 interchange at Heathrow.
