Climate Change

You obviously got that from your conspiracy theorist Twitter echo chambers.
I will answer this one.
You are wrong, I am not on twitter and I read the mag from time to time. Here is a picture of the whole page, its 28 and a picture of a random page number 31, for proof.

what on earth are you reading ? an article about Darlicks and a woman footballer shouting the F word ?
is the "Conspiracy Weekly" magazine ?

Seriously?

You say there are 50,000 people attending the conference?

That seems a lot.
it does doesn’t it, it is what was said on BBC news last night
just checked that with Ai (can be dodgy with numbers) and this is its output - seems to fact check the beeb

Approximately 50,000 people
were expected to attend the COP30 summit in Belem, Brazil, with 56,118 delegates registered. The host country, Brazil, had the largest delegation, with 3,805 participant

I am all for changing our ways and think we're heading for a climate disaster, but I can't help but be cynical about these COP conferences, what on earth are they all doing ?, 50,000 of them ?

just been trying to compile some numbers since the start
COP 1 in 1995 hade 3,900
COP1 to COP10 averaged 5,000 participants
the famous Paris CO21 in 2015 (the one I thought the world had finally woken up to reality) 30,000
38,000 attended Glasgow in 2021
then a totally insane 100,000 went to Dubai for cop28
and 56,000 for this one in Brazil

WTF are they all doing ?

They're all on a massive jolly. Telling ordinary folk to reel it in whilst they party on. That figure of 50,000 has to be right. The beeb wouldn't make stuff up lol.

Over what period of time?
not really understanding this question

from what I gather it was 50,000 different people attended.
I did wonder if it was some daily accumulative total, for instance 2500 per day for 20 days (so an individual could count as 20)
but, NO, the 50k is individual registrations

please do check this as i feel the numbers are so astonishing that there has to be a simpler explanation
the numbers are just silly

They're causing enough pollution to equal all of the yearly UK output.
They all have interests in pushing climate "solutions".
Oldest political model: create a problem of which you already have the (perpetual) solution and money will fall from the sky.
A massive scam.
I think the evidence for rapid, man-made change is pretty solid, especially when you look at the sheer speed of the warming over the last 150 years compared to natural cycles. It's tricky because the data from centuries ago relies on proxies, which gives skeptics an opening, but the basic physics of greenhouse gases is hard to argue with. The real debate seems to be around the best, most practical solution for DIYers and everyone else
Evidence?
Have you any idea on how they measure temperature?
And what they compare today's records to?
It's a scam.

Carbon dioxide stays in the atmosphere for centuries.
While not helping, what [China] put out last year has not contributed to the climate change of the last few decades. That's mainly on us, Europe, and 'Murca.
In reality, we've put down the foundations and much of the building, and current emissions are like a few roof tiles in the grand scheme of things.

At some point though, we have to get over fossil fuels, if for no reason than it makes sense to.
North Sea oil costs around $80 a barrel to extract, compared to $5 for the Saudi stuff.
So we'll either be beholden to other countries, or bankrupt ourselves to be independent.

It will cost far more to cope with climate change, than to slow or stop it.
The green economy does and will continue to provide lots of jobs and money for the UK economy.
