Climate Change

Good for you for not being a selfish and feckless person.

If everyone who currently is became a bit more like you, the world would be better.

Which is the point.
What more would you like me to do?

Based on my post of how I live, what more should I do to be more net zero / environmentally friendly aligned?

I recycle loads of stuff. All our household rubbish gets sorted and whatever the council will take gets put in the relevant bins. Stuff they won't take we save to go to the local tip. Things like batteries, old lamps, paint, oil, plastics, wood, rubble, fabrics, furniture, appliances, metals, mattresses, carpet. They even take plasterboard and asbestos, which other tips make you jump through hoops to get shot of.

And our local place always tells us the monthly percentage that they have recycled, with the help of residents.

Compare that to the 70s, when we threw everything in one bin and buried it in a hole in the ground...

You are not a scientist and have no credible scientific qualification to say that.
But I can read the arguments on both sides and come to an educated conclusion, and I tend to believe the majority of scientists, rather that a bunch of bullets points on an image which looks like its from a Republican backed source, posted by a nutter on a DIY forum.

I put my plastic stuff in the appropriate bin. I put my paper and card in the appropriate bin. I put my garden waste in the appropriate bin. All of that is no great hassle. Other than that, it's the general bin for everything else. And if being honest I've never done (and never will) the separation thing e.g. tearing paper label off plastic and then putting in respective bins. Or rinsing stuff out before chucking it in the bin. Feck that.

I'm sure I read, although things are getting better, some separated waste still gets chucked in landfill anyway.

Or shipped to an island in the Caribbean where it is out of sight and littering the sea and beaches.

I still see that today, most ridiculous thing ever.
Yep they frightened the pants off people so they would comply.
Same as climate, --- disaster, extentientual threat to humanity, the world is burning, changing the colour coding on weather maps to make it look scary, linking every not usual weather event to global warming and amplifying it on the front page bbc website and news channel ignoring everything else that doesn't fit.
Like the 2025 global temp was lower, not one mention on the BBC news and not on the main BBC news website its tucked away in a different section.
You are being manipulated and brainwashed to comply and pay more tax. Nudge units anyone (y)
Have a read of the comment sections on global warming news articles- no one is falling for it anymore and increasingly governments are realising it and are watering down many climate policies.

I do all of that and rip out the plastic window of letters like you are supposed to. And I compost.
But I don't get the rationale of running hot water to wash out a tin of beans, that is just barmy.

Gets my goat when they announce a tax on one use plastics and use pictures of some shoit hole 3rd world failed government country where they dump their rubbish in the river. -- there's your con --- feel conned yet.
