Anyone ever had one? How did it last? Still together now perhaps?

By long distance, I'm talking 100-150 miles.

Share your stories!

yes, a while, no

there's no substitute for being there.

When I first met my little pirahna she lived 270 miles away and I spent most weekends hammering up the M5/M6 to see her ... She's a Manchesterarian

Did this for 18 months and ran up an overdraft the size of a third world debt ... Had to get married before I was declared bankrupt

The little one thought I was loaded cos I had a cheque book!

Been together 23 years though so I guess its a success story.

Much the same story really. Spent six months travelling every second night to see her and like MW eventually tied the knot. However didn't run up an overdraft and certainly didn't HAVE to get married!

A few years ago whilst in Corfu I met a lass from Newcastle (ON Tyne)

We stayed in touch and eventually she came to visit me every other weekend!! (I could not visit her because she was married)!!

We parted after two years because I could not understand what the feck she was saying most of the time !!

Or was it that the lust dissapeared

She was at boarding school with letters prone to being censored.

Holidays were fun.

Lasted a couple of years

That was in the 1960's, we were very young.

Absence made the heart fonder,

Now back in touch as pen friends.

My wife and I are from the same hometown but we met just as I started to work away, so we only got to see each other on occasional weekends. After three years of this lust fuelled commuting I finally got a long term job in Yorkshire so she moved to be with me. Been together twenty one years now. If I'd shot her on sight, I'd have been out by now!

Big mistake ... The wife read this over my shoulder and reminded me (via the medium of an extended digit to my eyeball) that we have actually been together 25 years ... Whoops

Doesn't time fly when you're having fun

Let's hope its just under 25 years, and then you've still got a chance to redeem yourself. :D If its just over 25 years (i.e your silver wedding was 2 years ago) then you're b*ggered.

In reply to Crafty's OP, it all depends on the situation. If its because she's just gone off to University or something, then you've got no chance - Sorry...

Yes, went to visit pretty much every weekend for a year (140 miles each way), spent a fortune on phone calls, eventually she moved, we got married, two kids. Just got divorced tho after 9 years.
