I suggest you spend some time in Bradford, oldham, southall, Leicester, Luton, Birmingham, and see for yourself.

Fair point. May I suggest that you spend some time in the other parts of the UK then, where the vast majority is white "anglo saxon"?

Mean while back in the garden.....

he had another bbq at 6:30pm, no friends over just him,his wife, his 9yr and 2yr old boys (+ 1 live chicken who was for tea).

seem to have started a bit of a ruckus here  was not my intention, but i guess it makes for an interesting debate.

regarding his background as was mentioned by another member, i dont know much of it, he tells me hes been here for 2 years, his brother lives in switzerland thats about all i know.

regards the housing situation, i feel it unfair that he is given a four bed house, with only 2 children of the same sex, While a friend of mine who has 3 children 9yr daughter 7yr son and 4yr son, has always been in work lives in a rented 2 bed council flat and has been trying to get rehoused for the last 3 years. He is told they will not consider moving him until his eldest is 10yrs old. He argues that 3 children (1 of different sex in 1 bedroom is too much and i agree). Admitedly he probably could move into private rented accomodation or not have 3 children in the first place, but eitherway, my neighbours do seem to have jumped the queue somewhat.

i was initially annoyed at the council buying the house next door and worried about what new neighbours might be like due to past experiance of lots and lots of noise when i lived at my previous house(which is why i moved) but this Iraqi family are quiet its just the chicken and turkeys being killed in the garden that bothers me, if it were done in his own home then i would not be bothered.

anyway im off to bed, will check back tomorrow after work.

thanks all

So, apart from their dining habits, they haven't ruffled your feathers too much? ;)

Jeez, you have the patience of a saint Late74!!!

Is he actually chopping off the heads, or slitting the throats? If it's the latter, it sounds like he is doing "halal" meat.

As the house is council-owned, surely they would have an objection to someone using their property to slaughter animals?

Surely it is unreasonable/antisocial behaviour to be slaughtering animals so close to someone else's property?

Of course, it could be worse... You might find yourself living nextdoor to someone who wolfs down a 20oz steak but then whinges when the TV shows a cute deer being killed and gutted so some hungry African bushmen can feed their families.

You've lost at least 10% of your house value, you do realise that? I bet the head of the council doesn't live next door to a council house.

yes your probably right, ive probably been too patient, ive rung the council today and discussed this in length and they put me through to thier "antisocial behaviour unit" they said that he is not breaking the terms of his contract as he is not keeping the turkeys and chickens at the property, but in killing them in the garden and washing the blood with water which spills to my garden is classed as antisocial behaviour and as such they will write to him to warn him of such, in the mean time im to contact them again if he contintues .

i guess the letter will amount to nothing but will see what happens.

yes he slits thier throats and lets them bleed after which he completely removes the head then skins them.

he will probably do the same again later. i find it strange where he gets them from so late in the evening as he is not keeping them at the house but goes out to fetch them with his wire cage in his van in the late afternoon.

If you could follow him and find where the chickens come from, it's unlikely to be a reputable or even a registered poultry farm, and illegal meat traders are usually taken seriously by meat hygiene / RSPCA.

I think you should appreciate the diversity he brings to the area and the cultural experience he provides you by being your neighbour.

Have you got anyway of finding out if he is on benefit? A lot of these people work for cash whilst claiming benefit. I know this way you would not be addressing the chicken issue directly but if he gets caught cheating with benefits he may get kicked out of the house, problem solved. You have tried to be polite and it has not worked. Check if his car is taxed, if it isn't you know what do to. He obviously does not give a monkeys about you as a neighbour so if he is breaking the law in any way report him.
