I know this maybe known, we didn't know about it, my grandaughter had a piece of hair wrapped round two toes, cut her blood supply off, found it in time.

A child lost a thumb because of this

Blimey! Never come across that one although I did have a friend who had an ingrowing hair, which caused him no end of grief. He ended up with a huge fistula, like a big suppurating sore.

Same reason why women can't grow beards.
