Are you a dog person or are you a cat person? What defines being a cat person or dog person?

Had a cat years ago which ended up spending most of its life in a burrowed cave under a dense fir tree in our garden. Shame i loved cats but this one was a w'nker. He obviously had issues with being a cat and blamed them on us, instead of seeking help. Pooping on our upstairs landing and then digging out landing plant pot full of mud onto my cream carpet was the last straw, promptly escorted him to a cat home. I never liked cats in my bedroom was nothing worse than watching a flea ping off my bed first thing in the morn. No.

Dogs suit me more, disciplined obedient loyal and very entertaining, well the ones around me are or they too will be shown the door.

It wouldn't surprise if there's a link as being a tabby is to do with genetics and certain traits occur alongside the markings of a tabby

I did wonder that because the all seemed to have similarish characters. Maybe some of it is genetic, but how they are handled and socialised with humans in the first few months of life also has a big impact. Just waiting for someone to come along and prove me wrong. :cautious:

Cats are great survivors .
That's a good point transam, they reckon there are loads of ferral cats throughout the UK. They're good agile hunters as well and catch mice, weasels and even small baby rabits

yep abandoned cats are great survivors , one of the few animals that dodge between living in a home and resorting to there wild state ?

it is reckoned that pound for pound a domestic cat is more powerful than lions etc ???

Ancient Eygpt worshipped cats

afaik there are temples in India (hindu) where cats are revered ? as part of the hindu religion ?

I am very much a cat lover.

How old is she? They can live to be quite old. The worlds oldest cat was from Exeter apparently and was 31 years old when they passed away, smoked 20 a day and didn't get much exercise - owner puts unusual longevity down to a happy contented family life

Ours is a spring chicken in comparison to that one!
She's about 18 now, so getting on a bit.
We have three. This one, a ginger Tom who's about 16 and a tabby who's about 4.

That cat Bob died recently did a film and several books on the cat and the owners relationship with said cat

When they made the film they had several 'stunt' cats they used, but they couldn't get the stunt cats to sit on the owners shoulder so 'Bob' himself had to do most of the scenes. Great book and great film.

Well it seems I gained a cat over night, previous owners of house put a cat flap in the door, not fitted an outside socket so I run the extension lead to charge car through the cat flap, this morning opened door and cat came flying out, I assume got in through cat flap, but the charging lead then jammed it stopping it getting out.
